Princess and the Evolution is not just an homage to the music of Prince, but of all of the artists who emerged out of that era that embodied funk, rock and pop.




Ejevon “EJ” Lewis is an accomplished keyboardist. He performs regularly with 3 bands throughout Colorado, teaches music privately, and produces music in his free time. EJ holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Metropolitan State University of Denver where he studied under Fred Hess and Cherise Leiter. In addition, he studied classical performance with Dr. Tamara Goldstein, piano pedagogy with Dr. Fernanda Nieto, and jazz performance with Ron Miles and Justin Adams. He has been very fortunate to learn from and play with very talented musicians in classical, jazz, gospel, and popular ensembles. EJ blends all these styles to produce a sound that is fresh and entertaining. EJ is the keyboardist for Amanda V’s Material Girl – the Premier Madonna Tribute, as well as Princess and the Evolution.

Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, Chester Owen’s love of the guitar began at age eight. By the age of 16, he was performing with some of the local young musicians. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, before successfully earning a Bachelor of Music from the University of Southern MS, with a classical guitar emphasis. Since moving to Denver, CO, Chester has written and released four CDs – Schizophrenia of Love and Pearl (released under the pseudonym “SansVisaj”); and two EPs entitled Let’s Drive and Open the Door (released under the pseudonym “Groove Butta”). Chester is also a producer and engineer, and has recorded, mixed, and produced a variety of musical genres including rhythm and blues, rock, country, and americana. He has played guitar and arranged selections on local Denver singer and performer Hazel Miller’s CD entitled I’m Still Looking. Chester most recently performs with Princess and the Evolution, Amanda V’s Material Girl, and Byron Shaw as the Byron Shaw Project.
